Arenal Volcano Day

Image
Hey Parents and Family, This is the last full day and it has been a great trip up so far. The kids had the chance to raft the Pacuare River with a great water level, sunny day, and full of adventure. We always try to do something a little special for the Ridgefield group so this time we had our friend from Venezuela who is a chef come in and do an amazing grilling of all sorts of meets. Your kids can eat!  Last night we took them to the hotsprings and they had the chance to relax at the Manoa Resort at the base of the Arenal Volcano.  Today we will be visiting the sustainable farm of Don Juan which is a tourism attraction that has grown over the years but started with our first Ridgefield group as a local farmer we knew. NEW PICS --- Good bye to the Homestays

Image
Parents and Friends, It was a great ending to two awesome days in the homestays. We had a soccer game, party, and cooking classes. We are now here at a hotel and giving the kids a well deserved pool day at a beautiful hotel surrouded by sugar cane plantations and views of the smoking Turrialba Volcano. As were were leaving the village some of the students had tears leaving the homestays. Its a good life in Sitio de Mata. If it was more on the map it would be one of the blue zones because we have three people over the age of 100. In a population of 300 that is pretty good.  Here are some pictures of the last 24 hours of cooking, festivities, and a little taste of home...hanging out in the pool!
