Quick Gracias!

 Parents,

Tom here. I own the company the Roths have been traveling with for the last 14 years, CRR.

On a personal note just wanted to thank all of you for allowing this trip to be possible. We got to the point where our homestay project and much credit to Ridgefield groups have allowed the moms to receive a full year's salary only working 40 days a year. Around 20 groups for two nights each. This is rural Costa Rica, and moms don't have work, and it's been awesome seeing them grow.

When COVID hit, the plug was pulled, and tourism has received no financial help. My entire vision of sustainable tourism didn't feel so sustainable anymore. You have no idea how grateful we are to have Ridgefield this year and the financial help to the community (where I live).

The Roth Family and Ridgefield families are as much a part of CRR as our staff. I still talk to students from 12 years ago that are doing amazing things in this world. They should bottle the water in Ridgefield because it produces some great kids. Actually, we are environmentalists, so scratch the bottling water idea, but you get the point.

Huge thanks to Roths, parents, and kiddos for making this trip a go in times where we all have felt so much has been taken from us these kids are here giving, so fun to watch and see the Roth's and their army of helpers back in action.

We will get the kids to make some comments on the blog soon. I will read them out to the kids as they come in, so feel free to give shout-outs.

Thanks for your comments --- Christine; you will be happy to know nobody has seen a cockroach, or at least because they are so big here; I think they just think they are street dogs.

Enjoy your weekend because we are sure as heck will!

  1. Tom, thank you for the introduction to you and CRR. I’ve found that to really know a place you have to immerse yourself in the people and the culture. Thank you, along with the Roth’s, for giving that opportunity to our children. What you are doing for the local economy and society is amazing and I’m glad that we are able, remotely, to participate!

  4. You are such a sport Tom. Great introduction and thank you for taking care of our kids. Hope you get to go to Ridgefield one day, if you haven’t already. It’s really an amazing and historic town with an abundance of people with good and giving hearts, ready to help and jumó into action.

  5. Thank you and the entire Roth family for making this experience possible for my Melody and for all the participants. I spoke with a girl in town that did the trip as an 8th grader...she is a senior in high school now and says her and other co-travelers still talk about this trip...it was exciting for Melody to hear. Your introduction was beautiful...making it an even more special experience for all. ~Lauri

  7. Tom, thank you so much for your note! My older two also made this trip with the Roths (Dylan - 2016, Sophie 2018). Their favorite memory of the trip was the Homestay! Zoe was very excited for this trip. Please keep the pictures coming...so fun to see! We've had nothing but rain for the last couple of days, so it's nice to see that sun!:)

  8. Thank you Tom. That was actually Braelyn’s older sister that made the roach comment. She was on the trip in 2016 and loves to harass her little sis. Thx for providing this amazing experience.
